What Is an Automatic Standby Generator?

If the power ever goes out, your Generac standby generator system automatically turns on. Its engine runs on existing natural gas or liquid propane (LP) for a continuous and worry-free fuel supply. Additionally, it is permanently installed outside of your home, just like a central air conditioning unit.

How Does It Work?

A Generac automatic transfer switch works alongside the generator to monitor utility power. If the power ever goes out, the generator automatically starts and the switch transfers power from the utility to your generator to power your home or business.

When your power supply is restored, the switch automatically returns the electrical load from the generator to the utility. Afterward, the generator shuts down and returns to standby mode.
